Nairobi National Park tour

The most unique thing about this trip is the fact that it is the only national park in the world close to a capital city. In fact, you have its just a 20 minute drive from Nairobi’s central business district. However, note that while most big 5 animals are present in the Nairobi National Park, you won’t find the elephant.

A visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

For those interested in conservation efforts, there is Nairobi Elephant Baby Orphanage – created by David Sheldrick. Indeed, here you will watch young elephants being fed while also taking mud baths. Of course, you can take this opportunity to learn more about the conservation efforts.

In fact, it is one of the most ambitious efforts that seeks to rehabilitate orphaned elephants back into the wild. Moreover, this non profit orphanage came into being as a result of the massive poaching of elephants. Hence, it was decided to create the orphanage to save baby elephants since they would be unable to survive in the wild alone. However, due to the strict schedules at the elephant orphanage, this trip starts at 10: 00 am. 

Giraffe Centre Visit

A visit to Nairobi has to include the giraffe center where you have the chance of closely interacting with the giraffes. In fact, thanks to an elevated platform, you can even feed the giraffes. Accordingly, this center includes an educational program for adults and children alike, educating them about wildlife protection. Also, you can appreciate the majestic colonial house which is within the compound which is a guest house and a restaurant. Indeed, from time to time, a giraffe inserts it’s head through one of the many windows which is a rather exotic experience.

The Bomas of Kenya Cultural Tour

The Bomas of Kenya allows you to see how different Kenyan tribes lived and how the traditional homesteads looked like. Bomas, is a neologism of the word “village” and comes from the Swahili word boma (maboma plural). In this village, it was constructed to best represent all the elements of each of Kenya’s 42 ethnic groups. Indeed, you will experience the rich culture of Kenya’s 42 different ethnic groups and how they used to live. Consequently, this is clearly demonstrated through traditional dances, music, song, and folklore. 

Moreover, you will learn about the design and architecture of traditional houses which were used by the different ethnic groups. Furthermore, you will get to discover their traditions by attending re-enactments of various dances and songs.

In addition, this village has a recreational park for children, a restaurant and a picnic area. However, the main attraction is representations of traditional dances performed by a troupe of about fifty dancers and musicians.  

A visit to the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden And Cottages

Another excursion that can be organized in Nairobi includes a visit to the karen Blixen museum which is closely tied to Kenya’s colonial legacy. This house is where Karen Blixen settled whose destiny is both thrilling and romantic and is marked by lots of drama that characterized colonial Kenya. Consequently, it constitutes a living memory of all her possessions lovingly preserved in their original form. Indeed, for those who love cinema and Kenyan history, this house was the setting for the movie “Out of Africa”. Accordingly, the movie recounts the story of this formidable woman.  

Coffee Farm Tour, Coffee Roasting And Tasting Experience

Finally, is a visit to Nairobi outskirts. Here, coffee is cultivated according to strict rules that preserves the environment and the incredible biodiversity.
